Carrots...to eat, or not to eat??

.........TO EAT!!!

At Eliza's appt. on Thurs., the Dr. said that she can start on the step one baby foods like fruits and veggies...veggies first, and one at a time to check for allergies. So we decided to start on carrots this week. She LOVED them!! I wish we had thought to get out the video camera, but I'm kinda new at that...bummer. We thought her initial reaction would be disgust, but it was more like "wow, flavor"!! There is so much more to adding colorful veggies to her menu than just her approval...like orange boogies (luckily she, for some reason likes the boogie sucker thing) and colored spit up!! Which is the worst!! AGH!!! So bibs are a definate MUST now, even more so than before! It is so fun though to be going through all of these exciting stages! Its really setting in more and more with each phase that she is in fact getting bigger and older...bitter sweet for sure. Another cute thing is that as of this week she has started reacting to our kisses (with more than just a grimace=) now when we kiss her mouth, she opens wide and attacks!! We arent sure if its cus she thinks she will get food, but we'd like to think she is giving us kisses=) We just love our little munchkin!!

Its been a busy weekend/week! Saturday was my birthday and David had to work =( but my dad and sister came and picked Eliza and I up and we spent the day with my family in Keller. Fathers Day after church we all took a nap and then went to my parents to celebrate not only Fathers day, but both mine and Davids birthdays with my family. sorry no pics...forgot the camera...ugh=/ But it was nice to spend those days with my family. It was also really neat to celebrate Davids first Fathers Day....he is such a great daddy!! Eliza and I are so so blessed to have him!!!

Tuesday Momma Philipbar, Eliza and I went to North Richland Hills to visit Sarah and Codi Marie. We went and picked them up and then went to North East mall to eat and walk around...Sarah is in my position...they only have one car so while Glenn is at work she is stuck at home, so its nice to get out sometimes=) So we had a nice visit. Eliza is such a good lil traveler! But then...when we got home she was extremely fussy, She hadn't really had a good nap all day and just needed some tlc....poor baby.

Wednesday David was off...yay!! So we went to The new Sam Moon center near fossil creek to get my birthday present. I got a cute new bag...I decided I was ready to update a little, so I got a bag that is cuteAND big enough to be a diaper bag without looking like one....and a cute necklace. Thanks babe!

Yesterday, Thursday, was Davids birthday. He had school and work poor guy. But Eliza also had her 4 mo. check up....that means shots=( That is the absolute worst thing for a mom!! But we are doing a slower shot schedule, so instead of the recommended like 6 shots she only got 2. Her are her stats

She is 16.5 lbs!! wow baby! the doctor said she is in the 95TH PERCENTILE!! She said "that just means she is a chubby baby...we all love chubby babies!" ...We sure do!

She is 24 inches which is in the 25th percentile...a lil on the short side=)

She can now start on the stage one baby foods like fruits and veggies...veggies first. She has alreay been loving Rice cereal.

After we got home she was crying and I knew her leg was hurting her...we didnt have any infant Tylenol and the nearest store is not so near so I gave her a bath and she instantly felt better...talking and smiling again=) then just when I was about to get her out she POOPED right in her bath water!! I called for my mother-in-laws help and we were both laughing so hard! poor baby didnt know what was going on...but the bath soothed her so she could go to sleep=)

All in all she is healthy and progressing right on track!! Thats all we wanted to hear!!

We have been so blessed!! I just love both of my babies!! I thank Heavenly Father every day for them. We have so much to look forward too!

Early birthday weekend

Sunday we celebrated mine and Davids birthday early with all the Texas Philipbars/Whitts...mine is this Saturday June 19th, and Davids is next Thursday the 24th. Neither of us are turning six (referring to above pic.) but someone forgot to get birthday candles when they went grocery shopping...yep guilty as charged. But it was a fun to all get together. We don't get to see Glenn, Sarah and Codi a whole lot so it was nice to have them up. Codi and Eliza had a stare down...Codi didn't seem too interested in Eliza, but Eliza sure was interested in her=)

The most entertaining part of the day was by far introducing Eliza to her first taste of Rice cereal....

She seemed to like it...but to be honest she didn't actually injest that much since her cute lil tongue kept getting in the way.....
soooo.....
it's a good thing for those chubby little hands to help shove it in=)

The excitement of the day today...her crib finally arrived! Hurray! David had gotten home from school and was taking a nap before work, so when it showed up I didn't want to wake him, but also I did not...or could not wait till later to set it up...so I recruited my wonderful Mother-in-law to help...and voila......

1 1/2 hours later our hard work paid off!

Pedicures, Diaper genies and other wonderful inventions

Just a quick thought...

A Diaper Genie....such a simple little thing, yet soooo incredible!! I cant imagine life without it!! Extreme...maybe. =)

Also Pedicures are just a little slice of Heaven on Earth! Mom Philipbar took me to get one as a birthday present yesterday...let me tell you, it was a little embarrassing. I'm kinda a do it yourself sorta girl when it comes to pedicures a) because I dont usually have extra cash to go the professional route and b) when I do, I dont think about it. Needless to say my poor toes have been a little neglected the past few months so it was much needed. And I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! Thanks Mom Philipbar!! <3

And what about the paci holder! Those cute little ribbons that attach your babies most beloved object to your most beloved. so simple but again so great!! Since Eliza has been holding her head up and wanting to look all around instead of being cradled, this little invention has been a LIFE SAVER!! Think about dropping that thing in a public restroom and, even after washing it....and washing it...and washing it...putting it back in her mouth! And since her paci is also a life saver we couldnt be without...thank you paci holder!!

Our 'lil thumb sucker

So our baby is a thumb sucker! A couple weeks ago she started trying really hard to get that little nub into her little mouth when she lost her paci, but now she is a total pro! She doesnt seem as interested as she was at first, but if she cant find her paci, pop...in goes the thumb! I always said that I wouldn't let our kids suck their thumbs, but Eliza is laughing at me right now for that. It is so cute!! Her Auntie Mandy said that cousin Josiah, who is a long time thumb sucker has been calling her to "the dark side" =)

But she is just growing and getting bigger and stronger by the day!! Its so bitter sweet because you want your baby to grow and progress, but at the same time, you want her to stay a little baby who stays in one place and likes to cuddle FOREVER! She loves to "stand", when we are sitting and she is on our laps, she will grab on to our fingers and when we pull up she is getting really good at pushing up with her lil chubby legs. She is getting better at tummy time, it is not her fav. position but she is tolerating it for longer periods of time now. She loves to put anything and everything she can into her mouth! Fingers, toys, her clothes, ANYTHING! She is so alert and I dont know if she knows her name yet, or if she just looks when she hears a voice, but when someone calls her name she looks right at them! Of course we think she is the smartest baby in the World! lol But she is still so good. She is always smiling and happy, but Heaven forbid we dont feed her the second she is hungry!! Watch out! But we did have to say goodbye to our movie theater days (with Eliza), when she was smaller we would just take her with us all wrapped up in a blanket and she would sleep the whole time...but yesterday we went to see Killers, and she was not having it....she was def. sleepy, but it was way too much noise and excitement for that.

We went and got her crib bedding set two weeks ago and tomorrow we are ordering her crib! I'm so excited...I've always wanted to decorate our baby's room, and since she has her own room at Davids parents I will get to! She has still been sleeping in our room in her bassinet, but she is getting way too big for it now, and since she sleeps through the night it's the perfect time to move her to her own little room. It will be weird to wake up and not see her sweet little face when I roll over though.
